Art Show

Hello. I would like to extend an invitation to all of you to the1st Annual Young Arts for Our Future Show at the Bedford Branch Library. Wecurrently have art on display from each of Bedford's public schools, which willstay on display until the last week of March. I can't stress enough howimpressed I am with the entries in the show from individual students and fromthe art program at our schools in general.

Awards will be presented to each student who is entered in the show on Monday,February 25 between 6:00 and 8:00 pm on the following schedule:
DRE and JRE 6:00
MRE and TRE 6:40
BJHS and BHS 7:15

In the past we have hosted the student portion of the Art Show along with ouradult Arts for Our Future Show that occurs in November each year. Student artwas displayed in the children's room at the library. This year the art teachersasked me if I would be willing to host it as a separate show to give thestudents more time to have the ability to express their own unique talents inthe show. We have displayed the art in the fireplace area on the display boardsthat we use for the adult show, and I think it makes all the difference in theworld. It really is a wonderful display of what our Bedford kids (and teachers)can do.

8th Grade Registration Information

We are beginning our registration process for our future 8th graders.  Mrs. Johnson will begin visiting the classes on 2/15.

BJHS Administration will be available on 2/21 at 7:00 in the media center to answer questions.  Mrs. Johnson will be giving the same presentation that she gave to the students.

Technology in the Classroom

BPS and BJHS currently have a lot to offer students in technology.   Students were working on a lesson involving informal and formal writing.  Students were either using our Computers On WheelS (C.O.W.S.) or computers in the back of the room.  Mrs. Vogel prepared her lesson and had specific websites where the students had to go to answer questions, blog about their ideas,  and fill out a survey.  Mrs. Vogel collaborated with her teaching partner, Mrs. Scheffer, and placed links on Mrs. Scheffer's website.

Quiz Bowl Time

We have started our home room quiz bowl games. Students will be competing for the next few months during homeroom time.  Thank you PTA and our parent volunteers for running matches.  We will use the results to seed the teams in a "March Madness Tournament".  The top grade level homeroom teacher will have their name put on a trophy and displayed at school.  The trophy will be presented at our annual awards assembly in the spring. Meanwhile top individual students will be placed on our school quiz bowl team to compete against other schools in the county in April.  Good luck all competitors.
