Red Cross Blood Drive

Although BJHS students can not give blood, they can give of themselves. Students volunteered at the community blood drive held in our media center. Students helped set up and register blood donors. Thank you very much to the Red Cross and the student helpers for your service to the community.

Running For Boston

Girls’ physical education class during the next 8 days will be running to Boston for Boston.  We will be running collectively to accumulate 770 miles, the distance from Bedford to Boston. During this time the class will also be collecting funds for the Richard family who lost their 8 year old son Martin and will be struggling with the medical needs of his sister 6 year old Jane who lost her leg, and mother Denise with brain injuries. Our classes have set a goal of $770.00 in 8 days. This event will start April 24th and conclude May 3rd. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at 6266 or email Mrs. Bankowski at kathy.bankowski@bedford.k12.mi.us .

Thank you Mrs. Bankowski and the girls' physical education for your dedication and hard work.

PTSA State Conference

Bedford Public Schools has a wonderful PTSA. The building organizations help with programs for our students and staff. I personally can vouch for the wonderful work that the JHS PTSA does. We are fortunate that the state conference was only an hour north of us and I was able to attend. These events help bring about collaboration and ideas for our students. I find myself texting my assistant principals, teachers, and parents ideas that I hear. If you wish to find out more about PTSA, make sure you come to our next meeting on May 14th. Remember that school is only one part of the educational process, the work that you do as parents to support your students and school is also very valuable.

James P. McHugh Academic Honors Banquet

What a great night yesterday at our James P. McHugh Academic Honors Banquet. Students were honored who had a G.P.A. of 3.7 or higher. I would like to thank BHS Senior Megan Grohnke and educator Matt Andrews for speaking. This banquet is a great tradition at BJHS and we are very proud of our students.

Relay For Life

NJHS and parents are currently working very hard on Relay For Life fundraising.  The JHS team has already completed selling feet to show how many students support Relay For Life.  Other upcoming fundraisers that we are having is a bake sale this Friday, Hat Day on 4/26 (students pay a $1 to wear a hat), Lollipops for sale on 5/3, Spring Fling Dance on 5/3, and a Pre-Mother's Day Flower Sale on 5/10.  Then on 5/18, the community will be having our official Relay For Life event in the stadium.  This is a great project and I am very proud of our students, staff,  and parents working on this.
